During my last 8 years of travelling across Rajasthan — including a 10-day solo trip in October 2025 — I realised most first-timers make the same mistake: they try to cover too much in too little time. This guide is based on my personal experience, conversations with local guides, and official tourism data.

Why Rajasthan Should Be Your Next Trip

Rajasthan is India’s largest state, and it packs everything: majestic forts, desert safaris, colourful markets, and royal cuisine. But it can also be overwhelming. The key is to pick a realistic route.

Best Time to Visit

  • October to March: Ideal weather. Days are pleasant, nights cool.
  • April to June: Very hot (40°C+). Avoid unless you’re okay with early mornings.
  • July to September: Monsoon. Greenery is beautiful, but some desert areas get flooded.

7-Day Itinerary (Jaipur → Pushkar → Jodhpur → Udaipur)

Day 1–2: Jaipur
Visit Amber Fort early morning (avoid 11 AM crowd). Hawa Mahal, City Palace, and Jantar Mantar are walkable. Try LMB for authentic Rajasthani thali.
Cost: ₹2,500–₹4,000 per day (mid-range).

Day 3: Pushkar
A 3-hour drive from Jaipur. Visit Brahma Temple and take a holy dip at Pushkar Lake. The camel fair (November) is iconic.
Stay: ₹1,200–₹2,500.

Day 4–5: Jodhpur
The Blue City. Mehrangarh Fort is a must — hire an audio guide (₹200). Visit Jaswant Thada and Sardar Market. Try makhaniya lassi at Shri Mishrilal Hotel.
Train from Pushkar: 4 hours.

Day 6–7: Udaipur
The City of Lakes. Boat ride on Lake Pichola at sunset (₹400–₹800). Visit City Palace and Jagdish Temple.
Flight or train back to Jaipur/Delhi.

Budget Breakdown (Per Person)

Transport₹4,000₹10,000
Food₹3,000₹7,000

Insider Tips

  • Buy a Composite Ticket in Jaipur (₹300) for multiple monuments.
  • Always bargain at local markets — start at 50% of quoted price.
  • Carry a scarf for temple visits and dusty areas.
  • Avoid touts at railway stations; book cabs via apps like Ola/Uber.
